The Douro Demarcated Wine Region does not only produce Port but also non-fortified wines, currently known as Douro wines.
Their importance has been growing in the last years, as a result of the huge quality potential the Douro Region has revealed in respect to these wines.
We produce red Douro wines since 1996 and sell them under the brand name VALTORTO. They are made from the very same grape varieties which are used for Port, in particular Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca.
Valtorto 2009 is a well structured, fruity wine that should be served at moderate room temperature with meat, pasta dishes and cheese. GOOD BUY (Revista dos Vinhos, nº 279, February 2013).
